Why Do You Want To Go Back And Live In The Philippines Again?

The title says it all…. Friends and acquaintances I talk to asks me those questions repeatedly whenever I tell them that I’m working on going back and live in the Philippines again. They are wondering why after having established our life in Canada, would I decide to leave all behind? Maybe the message I’m sending is not clear. Eventhough I am planning and is serious on living back there, it wouldn’t probably be anytime yet. It is my main objective but – it would be impractical, too early [...]

Bataan Province, My Chosen Residence When Living In The Philippines

One of the difficult choices I have to decide on when I planned to live in the Philippines again was where to set my long term residence. I lived half of my life in my motherland and was a former resident of Manila and Quezon City but this time, I do not want to reside in those cities because I feel that it does not fit my lifestyle anymore. Traffic, pollution and congestion are my primary reasons for avoiding Metro-Manila but I could cite more if need be. [...]

Philippines Balikbayan Stamp For Former Filipinos Vacationing In The Philippines

Couple of times, former Filipino citizens who are now naturalized Canadian citizens ask us about staying in the Philippines for more than 21 days – they wanted to know if they will need a visa if they decide to stay longer. From what we know about the Philippines Balikbayan Program, we usually tell them that as former Philippine citizens, they are allowed to stay in the Philippines for a year without the need to apply for a visa. Some of them will counter that the information they get [...]

Living In The Philippines – Canadians Are Starting To Take Notice

I’ve been noticing a progressing pattern since December last year (2010) about Canadian husbands/boyfriends of Filipinas wanting to stay in the Philippines longer than the usual holidays and some are even planning to move to the Philippines and live there permanently. I say this because, in our Toronto travel agency alone, many of those who purchased their tickets from us also inquired about how to stay more than 21 days in the Philippines. For those who don’t know it, if you are a Canadian citizen who have no [...]

Cheap Apartelle Or Hotel In Metro Manila – Another Suggestion

Ok, here’s another cheap apartelle or hotel in Metro Manila – this time they’re located in Makati. SOSYAL!!! Anyway, I have not yet tried staying in any of their rooms, but I have seen the room sizes at St. Illian’s Inn and Makati International Inn during the time three of us Toronto travel agents went to the Philippines in 2009 (see photos here and here). Rene America, the marketing manager of the budget hotel chain, arranged for us to visit their two locations in Makati when we met [...]

Cheap Breakfast For Two Pinoy Style

Wanna know what a cheap Filipino food breakfast consist of? Would you believe it only cost $3.50 (157 pesos) and is good for two already? Well, I’ve tried it when I was in the Philippines with JP and I still can’t believe I’d had a very good but cheap breakfast! To get the best for cheap, we went to the nearest public market to buy everything that we’ll need, and because I’m craving for fish, I asked JP to get us fish for breakfast – for Filipinos, fish [...]

Looking For Another Cheap Hotels To Stay-In In Manila?

Share: If you depend on the internet, it’s difficult to search for cheap hotels in Manila. Even if you type-in “cheap hotels in Manila” in Google or Yahoo, usually the results are not what you’re looking for. In my experience as an avid internet researcher for frugal traveling and as a frequent visitor to the Philippines and Southeast Asia, the only way to find a really cheap accommodation in most Asian countries, even if we think internet search results is getting close to what we’re looking for – [...]
